June 25, 2019 Orphan Haiku

No silliness today. A friend’s mother died last night. My father died last year and I am only now starting to come to terms with it.

Aging to the time
When parents leave you alone
Memories must sustain

Getting to the point in life where people you love leave is a curse and a blessing. During your sometimes debilitating grief you also realize life is short and are more mindful of what you have. The juxtaposition is jarring.
